Police Calls: Shoplifting Arrest, Fake City Check, Smoking Bus

The Albany police logs for July 12 include two arrests, one for shoplifting and one for drug possession, plus calls reporting a fake City of Albany check, a missing wallet in a house where movers were working and an evacuated AC Transit bus.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Friday, July 12

Vandalism – At 4:18 a.m. police logged a report of vandalism at Western Forge & Flange on Cleveland. Disposition: Case report taken.

Petty theft, refusal to leave arrest 
– At 11:07 a.m., police arrested a Richmond man at 1101 San Pablo Ave. on suspicion of petty theft and trespassing. The arrest followed a report at 10:53 a.m. of the theft of a drink and sopa at Am/Pm on San Pablo.

Lost keys – At 12:31 p.m., police received a report that a key ring with three keys and two vehicle keys was lost around 11:30 a.m. at Solano and Fresno in Berkeley. Disposition: Log note only.

Fake City of Albany check – At 3:19 p.m., police received a report of a counterfeit City of Albany check at Mechanics Bank on San Pablo on July 10. The reporting party is going to call when he is in Albany. Disposition: Log note only.

Movers in house, wallet missing – At 4:29 p.m., police received a report that a person has movers in his house and has now discovered his wallet missing. Disposition: Log note only.

Smoke coming from AC Transit bus – At 7:15 p.m., police received a report of smoke coming from the battery compartment of an AC Transit bus at Marin and San Pablo. The bus has been evacuated. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Drug possession arrest – At 10:36 p.m., police arrested an Albany transient male at 1025 Eastshore on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and more than an ounce of marijuana. The arrest followed an officer-initiated stop of the suspect, who was on a bicycle.

Vandalism – At 11:31 p.m., police logged a report of vandalism at Monroe and San Pablo. Disposition: Case report taken.
