Police Calls: Thieves Hit Art Gallery, Cafe, Optometry Office

The Albany police logs for July 29-30 includes theft of a vehicle on Pierce a "strong arm" theft at the Albany Arts Gallery, grand theft of frames from Albany-Berkeley Optometry and theft of a wallet, car keys and DI from Montero's Cafe.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Monday, July 29

DUI arrest – At 12:01 a.m., police arrested an El Cerrito man in the 700 block of San Pablo on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Man taking recycling – At 8:45 a.m., police received a report of a man on foot with two large bags taking recycling on Ordway heading toward Marin. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint. 

Hit and run – At 9:59 a.m., police received a report of a cold hit and run with damage on Kains with no suspect. Disposition: Case report taken.

Frames stolen from optometry office – At 2:56 p.m., police received a grand theft report of eyeglass frames taken from Albany-Berkeley Optometry last Thursday. The suspect is a customer. Disposition: Case report taken.

Lost wallet at Target – At 3:14 p.m., police received a report of a black wallet lost at Target yesterday. Disposition: Log note only.

Wallet, car keys, DI stolen – At 5:39 p.m., police received a report of car keys, wallet and DI stolen at Montero's Cafe on Solano on Saturday. Disposition: Case report taken.

Man harassing female at Bulb – At 6:36 p.m., police received a report from a female that a man in his 30s, possibly with a bike, was screaming at and following the reporting party. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Identity theft, forgery arrest – At 7:09 p.m., police arrested a San Pablo woman at Target on suspicion of identity theft and forgery.

Stolen vehicle – At 7:22 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle parked on the street in the hundred block of Pierce stolen sometime last night. Disposition: Case report taken.

DUI arrest – At 11:55 p.m., police arrested a San Francisco man, whose occupation was listed as a contractor, in the 1000 block of Jackson on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Tuesday, July 30

DUI arrest – At 2:30 a.m., police arrested a San Pablo man, whose occupation was listed as a student, in the 1000 block of Jackson on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

"Strong arm" theft at Albany Arts Gallery – At 1:48 p.m., police logged a theft report described as a "strong arm" at Albany Arts Gallery on Solano involving two suspects. Bother were described as black males in their 20s with short hair and clean shaven. One wore a white polo shirt with a red emblem and white shoes, and the other wore a blue and white hoodie. They were last seen going west on Solano in the gray 2-door Pontiac. Disposition: Case report taken.

Barking dog problem – At 9:57 p.m., police received a report of a barking dog that is an ongoing issue on Adams. Disposition: Log note only.
