Police Calls: Turkey Disruption, Laser Energy Transmission, Jewelry Thief, Stolen Phones and More

MAY 10, THURSDAY

8:20 a.m. A burglar broke into a car in the 500 block of Carmel Avenue.

10:32 a.m. A thief reportedly stole a purse and wallet while a visitor was at Ocean View Park on a recent Tuesday.

12:07 p.m. Someone stole a vehicle from San Pablo and Solano avenues. 

12:52 p.m. Police responded to Albany High School when four students were sent to the attendance office after being caught smoking marijuana. 

1:29 p.m. Someone stole an iPhone from Albany High. 

7:42 p.m. Police arrested Jerry Charles Oneal Jr., with a listed residence as the Gill Tract, on suspicion of public intoxication. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility in downtown Oakland. 

9:05 p.m. Someone broke into a car in the 1400 block of Portland Avenue. 

9:21 p.m. A man was threatened at Solano and Cornell avenues by a bald man, wearing a plaid brown shirt and brown shorts, with a knife. Police took a case report. 

9:53 p.m. A burglar broke into a home in the 800 block of Solano Avenue sometime within the prior day and took a jewelry box. 

11:08 p.m. A vandal smashed a vehicle window at San Pablo and Monroe Street, but nothing appeared to have been taken.

11:41 p.m. A nearby resident reported "loud movie noise" at the Gill Tract. 

MAY 11, FRIDAY

1:03 a.m. A nearby resident reported noise from an engine, possibly a generator, and music at the Gill Tract.

2:59 p.m. A caller reported a turkey on Solano Avenue. 

3:02 p.m. A caller reported a turkey in the street southbound on Pomona Avenue near Solano. 

3:50 p.m. Someone went into the Police Department to say he or she was concerned about the "turkey disruption" at the Gill Tract. 

4:19 p.m. A thief stole a bike from a residence on Evelyn Avenue. 

8:03 p.m. Police arrested Tiocha Elliott Schultz of Hercules at the Buchanan Interchange on suspicion of vehicle theft, parole violation and several other violations. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail.

11:36 p.m. Someone stole a Toshiba laptop from a backpack at Albany Bowl around 7 p.m.

MAY 12, SATURDAY

2:43 a.m. Police arrested Emmanuel Antonio Sanchez of Oakland on suspicion of driving under the influence at Fairmount and San Pablo. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail.

2:53 a.m. Police arrested Skyler Andrew McKeancook of Albany on suspicion of driving under the influence near Safeway. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail and his vehicle was towed.

5:43 p.m. Someone stole a vehicle from Golden Gate Fields. 

MAY 13, SUNDAY

1:45 a.m. Police arrested Francisco Cuevas-Camacho of Baypoint, at Buchanan and Cerrito streets, on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail.

3:07 a.m. Police arrested Jesus Diaz of El Cerrito on suspicion of driving under the influence at Buchanan and Polk streets. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail.

12:50 p.m. Someone stole an iPod from an unlocked vehicle on Sonoma Avenue overnight. 

1:54 p.m. Someone reported an assault at Albany High the prior Wednesday.

3:03 p.m. A resident made several reports of a loud electrical instrument being played in a home or garage on Brighton Avenue. After a report at 3:56 p.m. and one at 5:08 p.m., police noted that they corrected the situation. 

5:35 p.m. Someone stole a bike from a garage on Washington Avenue. 

10:22 p.m. Police arrested Victor Jose Faria of San Pablo in the 600 block of San Pablo Avenue on suspicion of public intoxication. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail.

MAY 14, MONDAY

7:57 a.m. A thief stole two bikes out of a garage in the 1000 block of Neilson Street during the night. 

7:09 p.m. Police arrested James Sturges of Albany in the 1200 block of Brighton on suspicion of public intoxication and obstruction of a peace officer. He was released on a citation to appear in court. 

7:12 p.m. A caller from Albany Hill reported that someone was "transmitting laser energy to Albany Hill" from either central North Berkeley or the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. 

MAY 15, TUESDAY

2:25 a.m. A thief stole a vehicle from the 1000 block of Evelyn overnight. 

3:27 a.m. Police arrested Anthony Martinez of Oakland on suspicion of loitering near Christopher's Nothing Fancy Cafe after someone was reported to be in the area looking into windows. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail.

6:12 a.m. A resident in the 1400 block of Portland Avenue found a backpack in the yard. 

8:22 a.m. A caller said someone had gone through his or her vehicle on Curtis Street. 

11:42 a.m. A thief stole a truck from the 600 block of Curtis either the day before or earlier on Tuesday. The caller said it was the second time in a month the truck had been stolen.

MAY 16, WEDNESDAY

2:44 a.m. Someone on Evelyn noticed a four-door white vehicle with several people inside stating, "Put your masks on." They left when they saw the caller looking at them. Police were unable to locate them.

10:46 a.m. A woman noticed someone setting up a table at Solano and Cornell avenues that included photographs of " ... proclaiming he is responsible for genocide." Police said they could not do anything because the table was not blocking the sidewalk. 

1:49 p.m. Someone reported a woman "wearing a lot of clothes" on the opposite side of crash barriers at Cleveland Avenue and Johnson Street who appeared to be looking around. The caller advised police that it was a dangerous area "due to an open trench." Police were not able to locate the woman.

3:13 p.m. A caller reported a physical fight involving two or three homeless males and a female with a dog. The tipster said: "One is throwing something"; a man in black "has a knife in his hand and is chasing" a guy without a shirt; and they "seem to be talking or yelling at each other." The caller also said the female hit the man in black with a stick. Police helped the East Bay Regional Park District with the case.

4:20 p.m. Police arrested Jimmy Lee McGill of Concord at Target on suspicion of vehicle theft, in connection with a case from March, and parole violation. He was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.

8:01 p.m. Someone stole a smart phone from a bag a student left open during class at Albany High School.

OTHER AREA ARRESTS

* The Alameda Police Department, on May 12, reported the arrest of Peter Ngugi, 29, of Albany on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to localcrimenews.com.
