Police Calls: Vehicle Stolen at Target, UPS Packages Theft, 4 Arrested for Drugs

Albany police logs for Jan. 13-14 include a stolen vehicle at Target, the theft of the contents of UPS packages on Taft, a 911 call about a cat on the Gill Tract, four people arrested on drug charges and mailbox vandalism.

Monday, Jan. 13

Non-injury accident – 2:06 p.m. Non-injury accident involving a van and a vehicle at Curtis and Marin in front of Marin Elementary School. Disposition: Log note only.

Non-injury accident – 2:14 p.m. Non-injury accident on Sante Fe at Marin Elementary School. Disposition: Case report taken.

911 call, cat in Gill Tract – 4:20 .m. 911 call. A cat is in the Gill Tract plot. The reporting party can't go in and get it since there is no trespassing. The cat is not coming to her and she knows who left it out there. She was given the numbers to UC Berkeley police and Berkeley Animal Control for further assistance. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Parked bike partially blocking driveway – 6:01 p.m. A bike locked to a street-sweeping sign since this afternoon partially blocking access to a tri-plex that the reporting party owns. Reporting party wants officer contact. Disposition: No police action warranted at this time.

Man going through recyclables – 6:03 p.m. Anonymous reporting party says man was going through curbside recyclables at Sante Fe and Solano. Last seen eastbound on Solano. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Dog barking – 7:29 p.m. A dog barking for 25 mintues on Carmel. Disposition: Log note only.

Drug and drug paraphernalia arrest – 11:32 p.m. A 49-year-old Richmond man was arrested at Solano and Sante Fe on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and of methamphetamine or other controlled substance.

Tuesday, Jan. 14

Drug arrests – 12:27 a.m. and 12:32 a.m. A 25-year-old Alameda man and a 26-year-old Vallejo woman were arrested at 1100 Eastshore on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine or other controlled substance. (Editor's note: the arrests followed a 12:17 a.m. suspicious vehicle report at the lower lot of Golden Gate Fields.

Citation at Waterfront Park – 2:51 a.m. Officer initiated activity at Waterfront Park. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – citation issued.

Man taking recycling – 8:16 a.m. Man in a black cap and dark clothing taking recycling in the area at Victory Apartments on Solano. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Vehicle fire – 8:27 a.m. Vehicle fire at I-80 and Cleveland. Disposition: Log note only.

Mailbox vandalism – 10:09 a.m. Mailbox on Hillside vandalized during the night. Pried open, contents removed. Items possibly left behind. Reporting party currently at work. Disposition: Follow-up complete.

UPS packages theft – 4:24 p.m. UPS packages have been opened and contents taken on Taft. Happened today and last week. Disposition: Case report taken.

Vehicle stolen at Target – 7:39 p.m. Vehicle taken from Target parking lot about 15 minutes ago. Disposition: Case report taken.

Drug, probation arrest – 6:33 p.m. A 48-year-old Oakland man was arrested at 940 San Pablo on suspicion of violating probation and possessing methamphetamine or other controlled substance.
