Police Calls: Man Tries to Lure Teen into Car

The Albany police log for May 10-11 includes a man trying to lure a 16-year-old girl into his car, three arrests, 100 cyclists with boom boxes, a stolen car and bike, "out of hand" patron at Hotsy Totsy, and online dating impersonation.

The following information was obtained from the Albany Police Department's daily incident log and its arrest reports.

Friday, May 10

"Out of hand" at Hotsy Totsy – At 1:42 a.m., police received a complaint that a person was "getting out of hand" at the Hotsy Totsy bar on San Pablo. The reporting party then told police that the subject had department in an unknown direction. Disposition: Log note only. 

100 cyclists with boom boxes
 – At 9:01 p.m., police received a call reporting 100 bicyclists in the area of Washington and Key Route for a while with boom boxes. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Green lasers flashed at car – At 9:28 p.m., police received a report of man who said two green lasers were flashed at his car on Eureka in Kensington. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Saturday, May 11

Drunk/disorderly arrest – At 12:37 a.m. police arrested a Berkeley male in the 900 block of Kains on suspicion of being under the influence to an unsafe degree or obstructing a public right of way.

Drugs, burglary tools arrest – At 3:32 a.m., police arrested a Berkeley male in the 500 block of Pierce Street on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine or other controlled substance and possessing burglary tools with criminal intent. 

Criminal threat, brandishing arrest – At 10:46 a.m., police arrested a male landscaper from San Francisco on suspicion of threatening to kill or injure someone and brandishing an imitation firearm at Golden Gate Fields.

Vehicle theft – At 9:44 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle stolen on Garfield between midnight and 9 a.m. Disposition: Case report taken.

Man tries to lure teen into car – At 10:49 a.m., police received a report of 16-year-old girl being approached by at man in a car as she walked on Neilson about 5-10 minutes earlier. The man tried to get her to come into car, a white Chevy. The man was described as black, age 20-30 with dreads pulled back and wearing a white shirt. He was last seen on Neilson going toward Solano about 5 minutes earlier. Disposition: Log note only.

Bike theft – At 11:04 a.m., police received a report of bicycle stolen from a garage on Cornell sometime in the previous two weeks. Disposition: Case report taken.

Tripod found – At 2:18 p.m. a person in the police lobby reported finding a tripod at Cerrito and Buchanan. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Online dating impersonation – At 2:43 p.m., a person in the police lobby reported that an online dating profile page was made with her photos and information. Disposition: Case report taken.

Juveniles reporting possibly drinking on BART path – At 9:38 p.m. police received a report of 7-8 juveniles hanging out and possibly drinking on the BART path near Brighton. Disposition: Matter or reported situation checks out O.K.
