Police Continue to Search for Third Suspect in Richmond Shooting that Ended in Albany Crash

Following an  Sunday that led area authorities on a manhunt for three people who fled the accident scene, the police investigation into the incident is continuing. 

Shortly after the crash, police arrested two people in connection with the Virginia Avenue shooting in Richmond, which was reported just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday, said Richmond Police Lt. Shawn Pickett.

Pickett said, following the shooting, several people fled in a white truck, leading police on a chase through Richmond and El Cerrito that ended in Albany on Portland and San Pablo avenues when the truck crashed into a building containing businesses and residences. 

Pickett said early Monday morning that police were not able to catch a third male who also fled the Portland Avenue crash, but that they did not believe he was still in Albany.

Police are following up on several leads in connection with the crashed truck and the males who were taken into custody, he said.

Police are not releasing information about the males who were arrested, or the one who remains at-large, so as not to jeopardize the on-going investigation.

Pickett said one person showed up at a local hospital with gunshot wounds following the Virginia Avenue shooting report; the victim was in critical condition early Sunday.

As of early Monday morning, Pickett said, the victim was reported to be in stable condition at a local trauma center.
