Police Seek Witnesses in Highway Shooting Wednesday Evening

One person was injured in the shooting.

The is investigating a shooting on eastbound Interstate I-80 just south of the split with Interstate 580 on Wednesday.

A single motorist was struck by gunfire and was treated for the injury at a nearby hospital. Due to the ongoing police investigation, the identity of the victim is not being released. 

Lt. Dan Adams said the victim was a 30-year-old man from Pinole. He was released from the hospital that night.

This shooting is said to have happened between 6 and 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30. 

The police are seeking help from any motorists who may have witnessed the shooting.

The shooter's car was described as a white compact newer model car, which was traveling in the far left lane of the freeway when the shooting began. 

Authorities ask anyone with information about this case to call the Albany Police Investigations Division at 510-525-7300.
