Preliminary Hearing Scheduled for Friday for Suspect in Greenway Assaults

Thomas Glover, who was arrested earlier this month, is set to appear in court Feb. 18.

The man police believe is responsible for several assaults along the BART path is scheduled to appear in court Friday. 

Police arrested Thomas Glover, 55, of Berkeley on Feb. 1 after several women, ages 14 to 74, were .

Glover's preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. in Department 12 at the Wiley M. Manuel Courthouse, 661 Washington St., Oakland.

He has been charged with touching one victim in an intimate area while she was restrained, and also a battery related to the assailant knowing a victim (California Penal Code section 243 (e) (1)). 

Glover entered a plea of not guilty on Feb. 4, said Teresa Drenick, an Alameda County deputy district attorney.

The preliminary hearing, she explained, is somewhat like a mini-trial and includes witness testimony. Its purpose is to decide if there is sufficient evidence to hold a trial.

Glover is being held at Santa Rita Jail with a bail of $25,000.
