Save the Date: Albany Police 'Tweetcast' April 23

Join the Albany Police Department for a virtual ride-along via Twitter.

From an Albany Police Department press release:

On April 23, 2013 the Albany Police Department will hold its first-ever Tweetcast from 2:00pm-midnight. This is a unique opportunity to learn more about what happens inside and out at the Albany Police Department.

Currently, in addition to our city website, we also maintain a presence on Facebook and Twitter. We use these social media websites to help inform the public about press releases, public safety, community engagement and public events.

On April 23 we invite the public to follow us at www.twitter.com/AlbanyCAPolice as we live-tweet throughout the day. The twitter feed will follow along with our chief, lieutenants, sergeants, patrol officers, detectives, dispatchers, parking enforcement, support and records staff as we:

• write tickets
• investigate accidents
• go to court
• make recommendations for policy decisions
• answer 9-1-1 calls
• review cases for presentation to the District Attorney • inventory & process property
• conduct training and much, much more

Much like a ride-along, this instead will be a virtual ride-along you can follow from the comfort of your home or mobile device. Many police departments are currently doing these “tweet-alongs” and sometimes we re-tweet their posts as part of our community education and outreach.

Please make plans to follow us at www.twitter.com/AlbanyCAPolice on April 23 between 2:00pm and midnight.
