Spate of Burglaries Hits University Village

University Police urge Village residents to program the department's direct line into their cell phones to reach authorities.

has been hit by several auto burglaries and one residential burglary over the past month.

According to the Village police log, a resident reported a burglary on July 18 at 10:24 p.m., with a loss of $1,270.

On July 26, a resident's silver Hyundai Elantra was broken into via window smash, with a loss of $50. The burglary was reported at 7:45 a.m.

Around the same time period, another resident reported that his Toyota Corolla had been burglarized, resulting in a $180 loss.

Someone reportedly got into the Village Community Center on July 28 via a window, but nothing was reported missing.

Officials urge residents and visitors to be cautious and call the University of California Police Department if they see suspicious activities. The department can be reached directly via cell phones by dialing 510-642-3333. From land lines in the Village, dial 911.
