Police are attempting to locate two suspects in connection with an armed burglary in El Cerrito on Wednesday, police said.

Around 12:50 p.m., a gardener working in the 8600 block of Don Carol Drive noticed an unknown suspect removing a gas-powered tool from the back of his work truck, according to police.

The gardener tackled the suspect and pinned him to the ground so he would not leave with the stolen property, police said.

A second suspect emerged from a nearby vehicle and pointed a gun at the gardener. The suspect threatened to shoot the victim, who then released the first suspect, police said.

Police said suspects fled the area in a gray 1998 to 2001 Toyota SUV. One suspect was described as a bald headed Hispanic man between 21 and 22 years old. He stood about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed 130 to 135 pounds, police said.

He was wearing a white shirt, blue pants and a yellow vast, according to police.

The second suspect is described as a Hispanic man between 23 and 24 years old. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a yellow vest. He was armed with a black handgun, police said.
