Teens Robbed by Gunman Near Middle School

Police said they do not believe the attack, earlier this month, was related to another robbery of teens in late October.

Police arrested a 17-year-old Albany resident earlier this month after a robbery of a 15-year-old boy in front of .

The robbery happened Nov. 7, but information was not available earlier because minors were involved and police were still investigating the case, said the Albany Police Department.

A 15-year-old boy was walking with a friend on the sidewalk in front of Albany Middle School when, said Lt. Dan Adams, a group of six older boys got out of a vehicle.

They surrounded the boy and demanded his property.

One member of the group pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the teen before taking his iPod.

The group left, but police arrested one 17-year-old Albany resident later that day in connection with the robbery. He was taken to juvenile hall.

Police did not release additional information about the arrest. 

Lt. Adams said police do not believe the Nov. 7 robbery was connected with an  on Garfield Avenue.
