Woman With Dog Hit By Car While Crossing Solano

Police believe a lack of lighting contributed to the incident.

A woman walking on Solano Avenue on Wednesday night was hit by a car, but was able to walk away from the scene without medical care, authorities said. 

The woman, a resident of the , was walking her dog and crossing southbound at Stannage Avenue around 10 p.m., said police Sgt. Chris Willis of the . 

Willis said the driver did not see the woman, and struck her.

Paramedics from the examined the woman at the scene, but she declined medical care, said Willis. The dog was apparently unharmed in the accident. 

Willis said a lack of lighting on Solano may have contributed to the accident, and that pedestrians should always make eye contact with drivers when trying to cross the road.

"You need to look out for yourself," he said. 

Police issued no citation to the driver and said alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
