City Council Meeting Summary, April 21, 2014Posted Date: 4/22/2014 6:00 AMThe City Council took action on the following items: 

• Swearing In Ceremony - Disaster Service Workers 
Fire Chief Lance Calkins conducted a swearing in ceremony for the City's Disaster Service Workers who are recent graduates of the City's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. Learn more about the program here:http://www.albanyca.org/index.aspx?page=487  

• Proclamation in Recognition of the 18th Annual East Bay Affordable Housing Week 
The Council presented a proclamation in recognition of the 18th Annual East Bay Affordable Housing Week 2014. 

• City Council Strategic Plan Update 
The Council received a presentation regarding implementation status of the City Council's Strategic Plan. Learn more about the Strategic Plan here:http://www.albanyca.org/index.aspx?page=661  

• Ordinance Amending the Municipal Code authorizing the City to participate in the Regional sewer Lateral Program administered by EBMUD 
The Council introduced Ordinance No. 2014-04, authorizing the City to participate in the Regional Sewer Lateral Program administered by EBMUD. The program is intended to help minimize the amount of inflow and infiltration that enters the sewer system through cracks and other defects in the sewer pipes and leads to overflows. 

• Pierce Street Park 65% Plans 
The Council received a presentation regarding the 65% project design plans for Pierce Street Park, and approved moving forward to prepare 95% design plans. 

• Resolution approving Implementation of On-Street Accessible Parking Spaces on Solano Avenue 

The Council adopted Resolution No. 2014-39 approving installation of 4 on street accessible parking spaces on upper Solano Avenue and 5  on-street accessible parking spaces on lower Solano Avenue. 

• Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Albany and Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 1021 and Updated Salary Schedule 

The Council approved the MOU with the SEIU Union and updated salary schedule. 

The above summary is provided to serve as a brief update of action taken by the City Council as part of their Regular Meeting. The City Council meets regularly at 7:30pm on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month, at the City Hall Council Chambers - 1000 San Pablo Avenue, Albany. 

Meetings are also broadcast live on KALB Cable Channel 33, and streamed on the City's Website. 

The next regular meeting of the City Council will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014.
