Albany City Council OKs Moving Ahead on Pierce Street Park Plans

The first phase of development for the new park alongside I-80 got a thumbs-up from the Albany City Council this week.

The Albany City Council this week approved moving ahead with Phase 1 of Pierce Street Park development, according to a meeting summary posted on the city website.

The project's first phase includes grading for the plaza area, playground, ball field, and accessible pathway. The park is located next to Pierce along Interstate 80 north of Washington Street.

Also at their April 1 meeting, council members approved the first reading of amendments to the Green Building & Bay Friendly Landscaping regulations of the Albany Municipal Code, and approved amendments to the green building thresholds, the summary says.
