'Beth Pollard Day' Fete for Departing Albany City Manager

The City of Albany announced today, Monday, that it will host a community celebration to honor retiring City Manager Beth Pollard on Aug. 29, "Beth Pollard Day." Those who wish to attend the $20 event are asked to RSVP by Aug. 22.

A celebration to honor retiring City Manager Beth Pollard will be held at the Albany Community Center on Aug. 29, the city announced today, Monday.

Aug. 29 was declared "Beth Pollard Day" in a July 15 City Council resolution of appreciation that extolled her contributions to the city.

Pollard announced on May 22 that she'll retire August 23, after 32 years in city government. She began working for Albany in 2001 after serving as Town Administrator in San Anselmo.

Community members are welcome to attend the Aug. 29 celebration, to be held from 5-7 p.m., the city said. Those wishing to attend are asked to R.S.V.P. by Aug. 22 by emailing Kim Denton at KDenton@albanyca.org. Light refreshments will be served.

The price, which includes the cost of a gift, is $20, payable to Kim Denton, the city notice said.

“Albany was the community that I had eyed in my career path for having it all: small town ambience, urban setting, and Bay Area location,” Pollard said in a statement when she announced her retirement. “Serving as its City Administrator starting in March 2001 was a dream come true.”
