[Editor's Note: Albany Patch would love your 300-word letters to the editor. .]
I am writing to propose that all city meetings be regularly televised and re-aired. In addition:
- When each meeting airs, it needs a time stamp, so viewers know what time and day the meeting originally aired, in addition to what department is meeting.
- There is a huge need for a schedule (prominently displayed on KALB from time to time, in addition to news outlets, etc) so viewers know when they can see the meetings televised.
- I advocate for increased community access to city programming. I propose that all meetings of all city departments be televised, streamed online, and archived. This includes City Council, Albany Unified School District, Traffic & Safety, and so forth.
Since the city of Albany is branching out into social media, I encourage looking into streaming the meetings over Facebook, and other ways to increase the public's involvement and participation in city government.
City government starts with every person in every neighborhood and their access to info through various news outlets and means of technology. Thank you for your dedication and service to our community.
