Letter: Council's Ruling on Cell Tower was Right

Two residents asked: How would you like to have a 65-foot wooden cell tower in your back yard?

[Albany Patch would love your 300-word letters to the editor. .]

My husband and I own the apartment building that is less than 15 feet from this cell tower.

My husband, who is an architect, decided to build a four-unit apartment building on Kains Ave.

In October of 1988, soon after the building was completed, the cell tower, 65 feet total, was erected, creating noise problems, degrading our view, and devaluing our property.

The rights of property owners were completely neglected. The city should require wireless towers be located where they do not enchroach any residences.

If anyone posts negative comments about our City Council's decision, we'd like to ask, "How would they like to have a 65-foot wooden tower in their back yard, plus the noise from their control room?"

We deeply appreciate the our City Council's thoughtful vote on this matter and requiring that the wireless company follow the rules like every property owners.

We believe the City Council's decision is something our citizens should appraise for their fairness. It is not necessary to expand this ugly tower to provide good service to Albany residents.
