Albany Kids First

Albany Kids First is an organization dedicated to our community and its children.

Many of us have spent years promoting youth sports and active recreation that has kept Albany a warm family-friendly city.

And you will be hearing more from us as the next election approaches. Because we are a group that feels children in Albany need an advocate too.

We are only composed of citizens from Albany. No outside funding. We have a narrow interest: in what is best for our kids.

We place the kids ahead of the racetrack, the occupation of Albany Gill Tract, the fence built for the owl, the cell tower for ATT, having marijuana dispensers in our city limits, the greening of Albany, and the design of the new Safeway store. We think when you moved to Albany you thought it was a great place to raise your kids. We don’t think you moved here to start a garden, to remove the racetrack, or to be improving your health with a little cannabis.

We are against losing ball fields for whatever reason. We don’t want to see the Albany Music program disbanded. We want to increase participation of kids in physical activity in an ever- increasing world of cyber couch potato.

We are law abiders. We believe in the process in which we debate issues among ourselves and then we decide what is best. We don’t stamp our feet (unless we are keeping time to music) if something is not decided in our favor. We don’t think our taxes should be raised to cover lawsuits in a time when city governments are running a bare-boned budget.  

We believe in campaign financial restrictions. We believe there is too much money in politics. We won’t donate to a campaign outside the city of Albany to get an endorsement. In other words we believe that any candidate we support should put KIDS FIRST.
