Adjusted API Scores, Rankings Released for Schools

The California Department of Education has released adjusted 2012 Academic Performance Index (API) scores for public schools. In Albany, three schools ranked in the top 10 percent of schools statewide.

The California Department of Education has released revised 2012 API scores for individual schools as well as rankings based on adjustments to the initial 2012 scores reported in October.

Three Albany schools – Cornell Elementary, Marin Elementary and Albany Middle – ranked in the top decile, or 10 percent, of schools statewide, thus earning a place in the 10th decile.

Schools are ranked also with a cohort of 100 "similar" schools. The highest ranking Albany school in its cohort was Ocean View, ranking in the 9th decile, which is the 10 percent of schools just below the top 10 percent.

Individual school scores were mostly unchanged from the results reported in October.

API (Academic Performance Index) scores – reported on a scale of 200 to 1,000 – are derived largely from the standardized STAR tests. High school scores also include the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE).

The list below shows the adjusted API scores and decile rankings released by the Department of Education on Friday. Click on an individual school to see more details of the results for that school:
