Albany Cougars Triumph in NorCal Volleyball Play

A stellar performance by the team easily defeated Christian Brothers, 25-15, 25-18, 25-23. This story originally appeared online in the Albany High Cougar. It has been reprinted here with permission.

Highlighted by strong net play from junior outside hitter Kyra Holt, sophomore middle hitter Amber Erhahon, and senior setter McKenzie Giblin, the Cougars ousted the #6-seed Christian Brothers High School in the first round of the California Interscholastic Federation NorCal Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday night.

After on Saturday, seeming shaky at times, the Cougars dominated the Falcons from the first set.

High-flying defense from Brooke Tannahill shut the door in the third set to end the Falcon’s rally and seal the win for Albany.

The Cougars will begin semifinal play Saturday at #2-seed Vista del Lago High School in Folsom, CA.

The winner of the tournament will play the winner of the SoCal Tournament for the CIF State Championship.
