Albany High Eggings Lead to Suspension of "Multiple" Students

Albany High's principal has taken a strong stance in response to egging incidents on Friday, just days after school began for the 2011-12 academic year.

"Multiple" students have been suspended following "a couple" egg-throwing incidents Friday, according to an email sent to parents by the high school principal Monday afternoon.

According to the email, sent by Principal Ted Barone: "On Friday, August 26, there were a couple of different incidents of egg-throwing by members of our student body. Their targets were younger students, some of whom were at the middle school. Today, we investigated these incidents and have suspended multiple students for their participation."

Barone said, via an email response to Albany Patch on Monday, he could not release additional information about how many students were suspended, or their genders or class years.

Barone added, in his email to parents, that egging would be taken "with the utmost seriousness" and that it is "a dangerous, bullying activity which is unacceptable among our students."

According to the email, he told "all students" Monday that egging would not be tolerated and that "we will pursue violators aggressively and with powerful consequences."

In the email, Barone urged parents to speak with students about such behavior, and discourage them from participating in it. Those with concerns about egging, he concluded, could email him at tbarone@ausdk12.org.
