Board of Education to Approve Contract for New Superintendent Tuesday

The board meeting will be held on April 22 at 7 p.m.

The Board of Education is scheduled to approve the employment contract for Valerie Williams for the position of Superintendent at the April 22 Board meeting at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall.

Ms. Williams will attend the meeting, therefore although it is not an officially scheduled meet and greet, it provides an opportunity for parents, staff, and the community to briefly meet her.

Official meet and greet opportunities with parents, staff, and the community will be scheduled and advertised under the “New Superintendent Information” section that will be on the AUSD website.  

Ms. Williams’ bio will be placed on the website, along with additional information on her transition to Albany as it becomes available.

According to the AUSD website: Superintendent’s initial annual base salary shall be Two Hundred and Five Thousand dollars ($205,000.00) per annum payable in twelve (12) equal monthly payments.

Tonight the Board approved the proposed contract without changes ( ie the $205,000 BASE as above) The entire thing is 8 pages long

A salary increase of nearly 50% for a lateral move to a smaller district -- well done!

With our current bubbly real estate market, you need that much income to afford a 2 bedroom house in Albany, which is going for about $700,000 now. Lord help the rank and file teacher, who is more likely to be evicted than be able to buy a place in Albany.
