Cougar Volleyballers Take NCS Crown

The girls volleyball team defeated Sir Francis Drake High School Saturday night in four close games (25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 25-23) to take the North Coast Section Division III title.

Kyra Holt and Amber Erhahon combined for nearly 30 kills to lead the 33-6 Cougars to the NCS championship.

Senior setter McKenzie Giblin had 36 assists in the victory. Giblin and libero Brooke Tannahill each had 11 digs.

The Cougar’s season continues Tuesday night at Albany High in NorCal tournament play.

Coming Tuesday (via The Cougar): After winning the NCS Division III championship, the Albany volleyball team (33-6) is seeded third in the Northern California Bracket of the CIF State tournament. The Cougars play in the quarterfinal round against the Christian Brothers Falcons (27-12) on Nov. 22 at Albany at 7 p.m. Christian Brothers are from Sacramento and are seeded sixth after placing second in the San Joaquin Section.
