Marin School Alert on Man Photographing Students

Two alerts on the Marin Elementary School e-tree reported a man taking photos of students at the school. Anyone with information about the incidents or who sees a suspicious photographer around the school is asked to notify the school or police.

The principal of Marin Elementary School in Albany issued an alert about a man seen with a tripod and camera taking photos of students at the school.

According to notices on the school e-tree, there have been at least two recent sightings of a man taking photos of students.

Anyone who has information about the incidents or sees any recurrence is asked to contact the school office or Albany police.

An e-tree message titled "Marin Community Alert" from Principal Alexia Ritchie on Thursday afternoon said: 

Dear Marin Community,

Please note the following details regarding the sighting of a man taking pictures of students at Marin:

  • Seen on Curtis street with a tripod and camera
  • Asian male, 30-40 years of age.
  • Dark hair, black jacket with red piping
  • Time of reported sighting was between 1:30 and 2:00pm

Albany PD has opened case number 13-1682 on this individual. Please do not hesitate to contact them directly (525-7300) or our Marin office (558-4700) for more information or to report any other observations. Thank you in advance for your support and community awareness.

A e-tree message the day before, Wednesday, reported a second sighting, saying:

MARIN COMMUNITY ALERT - 2nd siting: At 1:55 yesterday, another 4th grade student saw a man taking pictures through the fence on Curtis. A second police report has been filed with Albany Police Department. Please let me know if you observe any suspicious activity related to this incident.
