Pot Brownies at AHS: 1 Student Sickened, 1 Cited

Paramedics were summoned to Albany High School on Tuesday to tend to a female student believed to have been made ill by marijuana brownies, and another student was cited for being in possession of pot brownies, according to authorities.

The Albany Fire Department was summoned to the school at 12:56 p.m. on June 4 on the report of a female not feeling well, according to a Fire Department spokesman. She was picked up by her father and did not require transportation or further assistance from fire department paramedics, the spokesman said.

Albany Police Lt. John Geissberger said the incident involved marijuana brownies and that one student was cited by police for possession of marijuana brownies.

The school's principal, Ted Barone, said he could not confirm any particular incident, adding, "I will say, however, that we have a continuing concern with incidents of students selling pot brownies on campus.  When we find out, we do follow appropriate discipline procedures including reports to the police."
