Your Views Sought on Picking New Albany Schools Superintendent

The Albany school board wants to know your thoughts on what to look for in a new schools superintendent. You can take an online survey and/or attend a public forum.

The Albany school board is soliciting public feedback on the selection of a new Superintendent to replace Marla Stephenson, who is stepping down this year.

Those wishing to offer input can fill out an online survey and/or attend an upcoming public forum.

The board is conducting the online survey "to garner public input on the qualities and characteristics needed for the next leader of Albany Unified School District," according to the Albany Unified School District website.

You can access the survey at this link. The deadline is Jan. 24.

"The Board welcomes and encourages staff, students, parents and community members to participate in the survey," the website says.

On Jan. 21, the board is sponsoring a public forum "conducted by the contracted search firm, Ray & Associates, to gather input on desired characteristics the new superintendent should possess," the district website says.

The forum will be held from 7-9 p.m. at the Cornell Elementary School multi-purpose room, 920 Talbot Avenue.
