Albany Teens Among Top 200 in Bay to Breakers Race

Two juniors crossed the 2011  finish line in the top 200 overall, and the top 10 of their division.

Nolan Tonkyn finished in 44:07 minutes. He was ranked 112th overall.

Albert Buck-Bauer finished in 44:55 minutes. He was ranked 128th overall.

Tonkyn was third in the 13- to 19-year-old male division and Buck-Bauer was fifth.

Both have been members of the Albany High .

Two other boys who were on the team last fall landed in the top 100 of the bracket: Corwin Shiu came in 21st, at 51:39, with an overall rank of 474. Kai Wilmsen came in 76th at 1:00:27. (His overall rank was 1,788 of the more than 43,000 registered runners.)

Andrew Dornan, also of Albany, finished 245th, in 48:01 minutes. He was in the 30-39 age group.

  • Gary Doyle, 58:39, Rank 1,379 (Age 40-49)
  • Carl Wilmsen, 1:00:59, Rank 1,916 (Age 50-59)
  • Clarence Montegrande, 1:02:19, Rank 2,273 (Age 30-39)
  • Kai Lee, 1:08:16, Rank 4,140 (Age 30-39)

Dozens from Albany participated in the race, including officials , and .

There were 43,403 runners registered in the race, according to the results website; not quite half of them were male. Ridouane Harroufi, of Morocco, came in first, in 34:26 minutes.
