If you are interested in getting together for free core workout, you are invited to join Steve Trutane on Sundays for a fun time in the refreshing air of Albany's Memorial Park.

The workout can best be described as a functional training, core stability, and multisport tune-up. The goal is to build strength, improve performance, and prevent injury in your chosen sport.  All levels welcome, but be sure you have your physician's clearance!

Each workout agenda will include different equipment and movements that will vary from week-to-week to keep things interesting, but it is guaranteed to be under 1 hour, safe and fun!

Triathletes are especially welcome. We'll help get you tuned up for the Albany Triathlon on September 29, 2012.

Workout plan for Fri Nov 26 will be similar to what we did in August, described on the patch here: http://patch.com/E-2L0 Trail should be fine as the rain is coming to an end.

It may be a little drizzly, but we're still on for tomorrow AM (12/26) for the last check-in day of 2010. If the trail is too wet, I know an interesting route on pavement we can do (there's a good chance the trail will be OK if rain tapers off tonight). Remember: No such thing as bad weather, just inadequate attire!

The check-in day workout is still on for this Wednesday (1/26/11). Since it's a weekday, I'm going with Noon as a meeting time instead of 9am noted on this page, since I think a lunchtime break would work better for more people, and it's a nice way to break up the day. If anyone out there is interested in joining and has a strong preference for a certain time, let me know (comment here or email/phone). Note that I scale these workouts based on the ability of whomever shows up. We can go easy or gonzo, or a bit of both. :)

Update for the Feb 26 workout plans: The LaLanne Fitness studio in SF (http://LaLanneFitness.com -- which is operated by Jack's great nephew Chris LaLanne), is moving to a new location and needs some help. We'll do a brief warm up at Memorial park then head over to 590 Howard Street (near 2nd) and pitch in for an hour or two. We'll go either by BART or my car/truck, so bring BART fare just in case. Join us if you're interested in meeting Chris and his new studio!

Awesome Spring weather today in the SF Bay Area for getting in your JLLDay check-in workout! There's still time left if you haven't done anything yet. I lead a "group" workout at Noon as advertised at Memorial park (quotes indicating that I was the sole participant, though much fun was had :). The workout was a functional training routine based on a circuit that that I do with my son's 4th grade class at Marin School on JLLDay check-ins (slated for this Friday). Note that the primary communication channel for JLLDay is the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/JLLDay -- Tune in there for the latest info about JLLDay workouts as well as other healthy living tips.

For today: ditto last month's comment (including note about the weather :) There's a concrete slab in front of the Vets building that's a good spot to meet/play.

Awesome sunrise for this morning's workout -- sunny, zero fog, great temp. Don't miss the next one on Oct 28. Who's ready for Jack LaLanne Day (Monday 9/26)? This year, I'm leading a short workout and 'power' lunch in SF. Details at http://JLLDay.org/events.html

I moved the time from 7am to 8am for the Nov & Dec workouts which fall near holidays (allows for more sleep-in time). As we head into the new year, I'm interested in feedback on workout day/time/location preferences from anyone considering joining in. Could shift to a weekend day or lunchtime slot. Comment here or via email (address above).

The day has officially been moved to the 4th Saturday of each month at 8am -- should be more convenient. Come out and give it a try!

Based on additional feedback, the day is now the 4th Sunday of the month at 4pm. The park can be pretty lively at this time (esp. with all the Spring-like weather we've been having) but the slab area I like to use for the workout (near Portland Ave) is usually unoccupied.
Steve Chervitz Trutane March 15, 2012 at 05:48 PM
As of March, I'm doing the workout EVERY SUNDAY -- no need to check the calendar! However, the 4th Sunday will be more special than the other Sundays, when I'll haul out more equipment. Time: 4pm, but is subject to occasional change based on my availability.
