Bike Safety Traffic 101

Free 3.5 hour Traffic Safety 101 Classroom Workshop

East Bay Bicycle Coalition's popular Bicycle Safety classes continue in Albany this February. Held periodically throughout the East Bay, Albany is hosting the free workshop on Saturday, February, 19, 2010 from 1:00-4:30pm. Class is held at the Albany YMCA Annex, 1216 Solano Ave., Albany.

The 3.5 hour workshop, for teens and adults 14 years and older, teaches the basics of safe cycling, riding in traffic, equipment, crash avoidance, rights and responsibilities. The classroom component is a workshop taught by one of EBBC’s bicycle safety instructors certified by the League of American Bicyclists. In this class you will learn the basic rules of the road as they apply to bicyclists, how to dress and equip your bicycle, helmet fitting, using transit, safety information and the main principles of riding predictably, visibly, and communicating with motorists by your actions and signals. No bike is required. However the class is meant to be paired with the Road Class.
