Just Another Day in Albany

Contentious neighbors, a blazing shirt, and mysterious photos keep the Albany PD busy.

It’s been a while since I’ve commented on the ,
but doesn’t mean things haven’t been happening.

FEB. 23

5:58 p.m. A woman called police after she said a solicitor was upset when she didn't have time to talk with him, then "returned later to apologize."

So, let me get this straight: she called the police not when the solicitor got upset with her but when he later apologized?

11:22 a.m. Police received a report that a young male who appeared transient had set his shirt on fire at the station. Police gave him a warning.

Was he wearing the shirt at the time?

8:01 p.m. Someone called the police to report "two large chests full of personal photos and possessions" had been left in front of his or her door on Kains Avenue.

That’s called a gift, isn’t it?

FEB. 25

8:30 a.m. Someone ransacked a vehicle on Ordway, and took aspirin, $5 in change and food, but left a purse.

I would say this is not a thief but an unorthodox barterer.

FEB. 27

9:36 p.m. A woman on Stannage Avenue called police to say she had lost her cat two weeks earlier, then spotted it in the window of an apartment on Kains. Police helped her reach the apartment's resident, and the woman was reunited with her cat.

Assuming the cat wanted to be found, I suppose this was a happy ending.

FEB. 28

3:35 p.m. Police responded to a report in the 1000 block of Kains about a neighborhood dispute. One resident said there was a "sign in (his) neighbors yard that states 'I'm going to get him any way I can,'" and points back at his yard.

This sounds like good fodder for a reality TV show, Krazy Konflicts on Kains.
