Creek Work Party Comes Saturday (Slideshow History Lesson Here)

Watch a slideshow, with subtitles, of the work done by Friends of Five Creeks at Codornices Creek over the years.

is one of Albany's hidden gems. It's also the city's only trout stream, says Susan Schwartz, of .

The group is having a work party Saturday at 10 a.m. Meet at Eighth Street and the creek, on the Berkeley-Albany border. That's two blocks north of Gilman Street and three blocks west of San Pablo Avenue (1100 Eighth St. if you're looking it up on a mapping program).

From Schwartz: "We’ll work until 12:30 p.m., pruning and removing morning glory and ivy between Ninth and 10th streets. As always, snacks, water, gloves and tools (are) provided. Wear closed-toed shoes with good traction and clothes that can get dirty. If you want to actually get into the creek, this is your chance — wear water shoes or bring boots (we have a few pairs)."
