Library Seeks Volunteers for Book Sale

The Albany Library is holding its big book sale of the year this coming weekend and is looking for volunteers to help out.

Anyone stepping into the Albany Library can see that it's quite popular among young and old.

Residents are drawn to both the materials and the programs, whose variety and quality are due in no small part to the thousands of dollars contributed yearly by the Friends of the Albany Library.

They’re having their main booksale of the year this weekend and are seeking volunteers to help out.

Here’s more information from the Friends about the sale and how to sign up to volunteer:

The Friends of the Albany Library are about to hold their biggest sale of the year.  Set for Saturday, May 18th, and Sunday May 19th, this annual sale raises thousands of dollars for Albany Library programs and materials.  If your student has been helped by the after-school tutoring program, enjoyed  weekend origami, or attended the summer programs , you may not have wondered "HOW are all these wonderful things paid for?" The answer, is that the Friends provide thousands of dollars in additional funding each year.

In order to do this, we need your help. There are volunteer shifts available both days, from morning set up to evening clean up. Cashiers are needed, as are "Floaters" (who bring up the boxes of additional books from the basement, set them up on tables, keep things tidy, and help patrons to their cars.)

Please contact us at friendsalbany@yahoo.com if you are able to help.  OR, if you're at the library, there is a sign up sheet at the Reference Desk. (See below for information on signing up online.)
     and
Mark your calendars to come shop.  The sale is 10 - 4 on Saturday, with vintage. collectible,  and sets available, in addition to the large room of $1 books, and the 50c items outside.  Sunday's sale will be 10 -2:15 , with a $5 Bag Sale from 2:30 – 4. The vintage and collectible items will only be available on Saturday.  $1 and 50c items available Sunday.
