Since 1974, Berkeley Bagels has sold fresh-baked traditional bagels on a sweet little strip of Gilman Street on the border of Albany and Berkeley. Although there are only a few tables inside, there's a lovely outdoor courtyard with a dolphin fountain and flowering shrubs outside. The shop's bagels are "completely natural," made without artificial ingredients or refined sugars. A seemingly endless chalkboard menu towering over the counter lists all of the shop's offerings, from a variety of fresh fish toppings to sandwiches and bagel dogs. In addition to fresh bagels of all kinds, the shop has a huge case of cream cheese varieties for your take-out pleasure.
