This motorcyclist would like to not have my life ended by a cell phone user. I drive trucks as well,Read More and am able to ignore the phone while i drive, you can too. Why are we alerting people to this? let them get the ticket it might help. This tells people to watch out for one day then go back to texting. MY FAVORITE- the woman who turned left in front of me without signaling and almost killed me - who then held up her phone and i could see her mouth the words "sorry i was on the phone"

Dr. Ingerb April 18, 2014 at 07:32 am
Agreeing with Giorgio C.: It's a pretty big journalistic gaffe not to identify the persons ofRead More interest, and the editors (or the police) probably should have blocked out the third person's face. By not identifying who is who in the photo, you force us to make assumptions about who the bad guys are based on appearance. Sure, we have to do that in real life, but we're often wrong. It's a good thing for Patch to publish photos to help police after a violent incident, but there should be no need for us to draw on our simplifying prejudices in trying to be helpful. That's very bad journalism.
Giorgio C. April 18, 2014 at 07:35 pm
Yes, Dr. Ingerb, "prejudice" is the right word. The author of this article expects us toRead More filling in the missing information using racial prejudice.
Dave April 18, 2014 at 09:06 pm
I guess no one read where it says,"Police haven't been able to identify the two young menRead More captured by the surveillance cameras." I see 2 young and one older male. Step down off the racial prejudice soap box.

>> I'm curious to know what the "'controlled' purchases" involved. <<< theRead More great part of this is the implosion it will cause in the Bulb community./ When one person is busted, everyone else thinks everyone else was the snitch.. maybe someone is. Not likely the police will share their tactics, but it is interesting- you would think it would be tough for a cop to go out to a tight community like that and make buys without living there and knowing a bunch of Bulbies... Just in case they Bulbies are reading this, I'll stir the pot a little more and say yeah, sure looks like you all got a snitch out there... you know i dont do speed, wasnt me... People could try and blame me and other Patch users for calling attention to how integral meth is to the Bulb people, but - reality check- every time one of you goes on youtube or into a City Council meeting, you make it very plain to everyone you are tweeking..... The Bulbies brought this on themselves, and another common action among tweekers is to snitch each other off when they get in trouble... The truth is probably that the police watched KC and sent someone in to buy from her, but all the Bulbies will read in this is that there is a snitch out there.... will any luck they will evict each other over this

Let me guess, this man was not really qualified for the job but got the job because of affirmativeRead More action. Just like other "entitled" people who think the world owes them and they just take. All the liberals feels so sorry for these people that they just let it slide by. Remember Muslim bakery? I know someone who worked at a section 8/ below market housing complex. Drug dealers were living there after their grandmothers died. People threw garbage all over and trashed their apartments and then demanded to have the apartments renovated. Our system is broken. Personal responsibility is what we need. Also, in a civilized society, people think about what is good for the whole, not just the individual.

We could be reading a similar story about every single one of our "public servants",Read More democrat or republican. Everything is for sale for what amounts to peanuts to the corporations and criminals that make "political contributions". The larger we allow the state to grow the worse this is going to get. "when you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see money flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - When you see that men get richer by graft and pull then by work, and your laws don't protect you against them but protect them against you - when you see corruption Being rewarded and honestly being a self sacrifice, you may know that your society is doomed." Ayn Rand

It is unbelievable to me that he is still collecting his salary. While the federal government wagesRead More a war on terrorism, Yee tries to sell them weapons. I hope he sees the inside of a prison as a result. Imagine how the other corrupt politicians in Sacramento are sweating.

The superintendent works for our school board who work for our children.
Giorgio C. March 29, 2014 at 10:17 am
Yes, but remember this relationship is analogous to that of the City Manager and City Council. TheRead More City Manager is supposed to know which procedures are best for getting the job done. The City Council, and WCCUSD Board, are a group of elected amateurs who know little to nothing about protocol. They are supposed to hire/appoint someone who does. This is one more example of when the Superintendent has to be told how to do their job. The other recent example was OCR having to tell the Superintendent which procedures were lacking to meet Title IX requirements. Last year, I shared with the school board and the Superintendent my concerns about the lack of procedures pertaining to the Ivy League Connection program. My concern, as I told them, was that they had district employees (not teachers) chaperoning children during these visits to these colleges. What procedures were in place for ensuring that our children were safe with these chaparones? I got blasted by one of the Ivy League Coordinators for this, but the board and Superintendent agreed that some clear procedures were needed for this program. Our Superintendent has his strong points. For everything else, he is relying on his staff to make sure nothing falls through the cracks. This is why I don't understand why everyone is opposed to paying administrators what they are worth. They fulfill a critical function. Just like teachers, we need to recruit and retain the best administrators, too.

Anybody who criticizes Leland Yee is racist. Felonies not withstanding....
Hutch March 28, 2014 at 09:10 pm
What's the difference between Leland Yee doing favors for political contributions and otherRead More politicians doing favors to unions and corporations? The whole system is rigged to screw taxpayers. They need to stop all personal gifts and corporate donations including unions.
Hutch March 31, 2014 at 02:19 pm
It's time for this crap to stop. Send Jerry Hill a message Senator.Hill@senate.ca.gov Tell him toRead More change laws to stop all "gifts" and stop contributions by lobbyists, corporations and unions. Also if a politician is suspended they should lose all pay and benefits unless they are later exonerated.
