SchoolCARE was founded in 2001 by a concerned group of citizens who came together to stop the effects of severe…More budget cuts in the Albany Unified School District. The organization is committed to developing long-term funding support for quality education and restoring programs to fill the gap between fiscal needs and long-term solutions. Visit the group's website for more information.

From SchoolCARE in July 2010: Our SchoolCARE heart is filling! Halfway through the summer, and we're getting closer to our community goal of raising $300,000 before the school doors open again next month. If you've been meaning to send in your SchoolCARE contribution, it's not too late. So far, SchoolCARE has already pledged to pay for the following for the coming 2010-11 school year: reading specialists at Cornell, Ocean View and Marin elementary schools; elective classes and counseling at Albany Middle School; elective classes and a college-career coordinator at Albany High School; and counseling and culinary enrichment at MacGregor High School.

It may be summer, but SchoolCARE volunteers continue working to restore more – art enrichment, elective classes, library aides, and more – before school starts.

To join your fellow parents in this important effort to preserve the high quality education Albany schools provide our children, please go to www.AlbanySchoolCARE.org and donate online today. Or, send your donation to: Albany SchoolCARE, 1563 Solano Ave., #537, Albany, CA, 94707.

We're also looking for more parent help with SchoolCARE for the coming year. Graphic arts, website design and upkeep, photography, database and mailmerge skills, outreach, and more. Bring a friend and have fun together while helping our schools!
