Timothy Buckwalter, originally from Pennsylvania, lives in Albany with his wife, journalist Nell Bernstein, and their twins.

His work, equal parts appropriation and abstraction, has been included in the Linz Biennale and exhibited at more than 35 venues in cities including New York City; Los Angeles; Oakland; Portland, and San Francisco.

He is an active blogger, and has written for numerous Bay area publications (including San Francisco Chronicle, The East Bay Monthly and KQED.)

Over the last five years, Buckwalter helped pioneer the organizing of online exhibitions, including his own yearlong weekly drawing shows in 2006. He has also guest organized online shows for Eyebeam’s Add-Art project and SFMOMA's OpenSpace.

In 2009, Buckwalter made his first curatorial venture into the physical world with My Certain Fate — a group show of more than 30 national and international artists at Pharmaka in Los Angeles. Since that time he has organized four acclaimed shows with Richmond's NIAD studio art program.

As an artist, organizer and writer, Buckwalter has never stopped questioning the process by which art enters (or is excluded from) public view, nor what it means to engage with (or be shut out of) of the century-long conversation among individuals that gives meaning and coherence to contemporary art.

Oh yeah, he's also worked as a bike messenger, butcher, record store clerk, film publicist and social media manager.
