Street Closure Alert: More than 30 Blocks to Celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday

National Night Out is bigger than ever with 31 blocks! That means 31 street closures as well, so plan ahead.

is on Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 6–8 p.m. this year and we have a record 31 blocks participating in Albany! National Night Out is all about getting to know your neighbors better as well as getting to know local law enforcement officers better. This celebration is a nationwide event with over 37 million people participating in over 15,000 different communities.

Locally, police officers, firefighters and city staff will visit each one of the 31 blocks to congratulate residents on doing their part to help keep Albany as safe as possible. When neighbors know each other, neighborhoods are safer.

Because of the large number of street closures this year, we strongly urge residents to take a look at the map to plan their route home. If residents are able to arrive home before 6:30 p.m., that is ideal.
