Albany Local Week - the Grand Finale

Albany Local Week ended with a bonus event on Sunday – Alberrito Streets.  Key Route Blvd between Thousand Oaks to A Street was closed to cars on both sides of the median.  Residents of both Albany and El Cerrito enjoyed live music, juggling, games, slack lining, and lots of other activities.  I was pleased to meet the artists who created El Cerrito’s public art on San Pablo Ave.  The two food trucks in attendance were busy all day selling sliders and ices.  The El Cerrito fire truck was a big hit with the kids who always love to climb on it.  It was nice to see my old friend, fireman Rune.

Don’t forget to turn in your scorecard by October 4 to get your special prize.  Be sure to thank the recreation department staff for all of their hard work this week and the previous weeks organizing this event.  There is a lot of time and effort that goes into all of the events of the week behind the scenes.  The breadth and variety of activities served all ages and interests – children and adults of all ages.  Another big thank you goes to all of the businesses who gave their support through discounts, special events, donations, http://albanyca.org/index.aspx?page=1049.   The best way to thank them is through your patronage and verbal thanks.

It has been fun cheering you all on during this week. I can’t wait to see the winner at the October 7 City Council meeting – will it be YOU?  I hope so.
