Police Calls: Robbery of Purse at Solano & Talbot, Much DUI

The Albany police logs for Oct. 26-27 include the nighttime robbery of a purse and wallet at Solano and Talbot, several DUI cases, a hit and run by a garbage truck, a vehicle that ran into a business and an arrest linked to a missing car and a crash.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Saturday, Oct. 26

Found cell phone turned in – At 7:52 a.m., a person who found a cell phone at a Nike store in San Leandro yesterday came to police lobby to turn it in. The reporting party said police came to the reporting party's door and assumes it was due to the phone. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Hit and run with damage by garbage truck – At 9:33 a.m., police logged a report of a cold hit and run with damage earlier this morning by a Waste Management truck at Solano and Cornell. Disposition: Case report taken.

Auto burglary
– At 10:01 a.m., police received a petty-theft report of a cold auto burglary on Masonic. Disposition: Log note only.

Auto burglary – At 10:20 a.m., police received a petty-theft report of a cold auto burglary on Pierce. Disposition: Log note only.

Non-injury accident – At 11:51 a.m., police logged a report of a non-injury accident involving a "solo TC" on Buchanan at the Buchanan Interchange. Disposition: Case report taken.

Non-injury accident – At 2:13 p.m., police received a report of non-injury involving a vehicle running into the building containing Albany Cabinets and Design on San Pablo. The driver was possibly attempting to leave. Disposition: Case report taken.

Robbery
 At 11:12 p.m., police received a report of a robbery that just occurred at Solano and Talbot in which a purse and a wallet were stolen. The suspect was described as a black male, 16-20, about 6-feet tall, wearing a blue sweatshirt and baggy jeans, last seen departing south on Talbot. Disposition: Case report taken. (Patch has requested more information from police on this case.)

Assault with injuries
– At 11:24 p.m., police received a report from a person who assaulted by an man on San Pablo across from MacDonald's. The reporting party was very upset with injuries to the teeth and a bruise on the face. The suspect was described as a white male about 35 and 5-feet 9-inches tall with brown hair and blue eyes and wearing a big jacket. Disposition: Assistance given to outside agency.

DUI arrest – At 10:26 p.m., police arrested a 58-year-old El Cerrito man at San Pablo and Washington on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Sunday, Oct. 27

Outstanding warrant arrest 
– At 1:52 a.m., police arrested a 22-year-old man from Marcola, Oregon, at San Pablo and Garfield on an outstanding warrant. 

Outstanding warrant arrest, missing car, accident – At 2:23 a.m., police logged an "arrest made" report on an outstanding warrant involving officer-initiated activity at the Hotsy Totsy. The log entry refers to two other log entries: one at 1:26 a.m. of non-injury vehicle accident described as an "unoccupied possible DUI crash" at Buchanan and Madison and one at 1:49 a.m. of a vehicle reporting missing from the area behind Taco Bell with the reporting party in front of the Hotsy Totsy.

DUI arrest – At 2:42 a.m., police arrested a 26-year-old Hercules man at San Pablo and Washington on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Outstanding warrant arrest – Police arrested a 19-year-old Albany man at Fairmont and Behrens on an outstanding warrant.

Homeless guy lights fire at BART path – At 9:16 a.m., police logged a report of a homeless guy under the BART path on Masonic starting a fire.

Storage container stolen – At 3:22 p.m., police received a report of a cold petty theft of a storage container on Gateview. Disposition: Log note only.

DUI arrest – At 10:44 p.m., police arrested a 54-year-old Kensington woman at San Pablo and Marin extension Washington on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.
